Payroll Specialist (Part-Time, Remote Contract)

Must reside in the Greater Chicago area )
Pay: $26/hour
Duration: 4-Month Contract
Hours: 25-30 hours/week
Our client is seeking an experienced
Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations for approximately 300 employees across multiple pay groups. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented payroll professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can work independently while meeting critical deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Process semi-monthly payroll and off-cycle payrolls
- Review and validate timecards, earnings, deductions, and adjustments
- Process bonuses, commissions, retro pay, severance, and other special payments
- Maintain employee payroll records and updates
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries
- Perform payroll audits, reconciliations, and reporting
- Partner with HR and payroll team members to ensure data accuracy and compliance
Qualifications
- 3-5+ years of full-cycle payroll processing experience
- Strong experience with UKG Pro Payroll
- Multi-state payroll experience required
- Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables)
- Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and payroll deadlines

- Fully remote, but candidates must live in the Greater Chicago area

Pay Details: $25.00 to $26.00 per hour
