Role description:
Arcadis is seeking a Structural Engineer - Tennessee to support the design and delivery of bridge and structural infrastructure projects across South Carolina. In this role, you will contribute to projects spanning new construction, inspection, rehabilitation, and repair of transportation structures.
You will serve as a key technical contributor, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and supporting project delivery from concept through construction.
Role accountabilities:
  • Serve as a design engineer for bridges and transportation structures, including new design, inspection, rehabilitation, and repair
  • Lead, assign, and review work while providing technical guidance to team members
  • Develop engineering calculations, plans, specifications, and contract documents
  • Evaluate engineering alternatives and apply sound judgment in design decisions
  • Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle
  • Prepare and present technical reports, documentation, and design deliverables
  • Perform structural analysis and design with increasing complexity under senior review
  • Provide mentorship and oversight to junior structural engineers on small to mid-sized projects
  • Coordinate across disciplines (transportation, geotechnical, drainage, etc.) to ensure integrated solutions

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering (ABET-accredited)
  • Minimum 7+ years of structural/bridge engineering experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Tennessee OR ability to obtain Tennessee PE within 6-12 months
  • Strong experience in structural analysis and design
  • Working knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications
  • Experience with Bentley software suite (e.g., OpenBridge, MicroStation)
  • Proficiency with structural analysis tools (e.g., Midas or similar)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent working knowledge of relevant design codes including AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Direct experience with Tennessee DOT (TDOT) standards and projects
  • Experience supporting design-build or alternative delivery projects
  • Proven ability to coordinate with clients and lead technical discussions
  • Experience mentoring junior staff and contributing to team development

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $87,912 - $131,868. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
