About the role
Love basketball and enjoy being part of the game? HealthFitness is looking for a few Basketball Referees to help officiate recreational basketball games at our client site in Racine, WI! This is a fun, part-time opportunity offering just 2 hours per week on one designated day, making it perfect for someone looking to stay involved in the sport while earning extra income. Help create a positive and fair playing experience for participants while enjoying the excitement of game day!
Responsible for officiating recreational leagues on a seasonal basis.
Key Accountabilities
  • Officiate the games and instruct players on the rules of the game as necessary.
  • Reports any problems with games and/or players to the site Management.
  • Officiate the recreational games while keeping a professional playing atmosphere.
  • Be punctual and professional in the fulfillment of the responsibilities.
  • Exercise authority in an impartial, firm, and controlled manner.
  • Dress neatly and appropriately for each shift.
  • Discipline participants utilizing facility agreed on standards to address disruptive or unsafe behavior.
  • Other duties as needed/assigned.

Minimum Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be a certified basketball referee.
  • Strong verbal communication skills with both children and adults.
  • Knowledge of standard rules of play of the game being played.
  • Active listening skills and ability to relate to and provide excellent customer service to participants and spectators.
  • Ability to work independently, problem solve, and make decisions with limited supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability make quick decisions, possess mature judgment, and sound decision-making.
  • CPR/AED/first aid certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross preferred.
  • Professional, reliable, and people friendly.

Applicants must meet hiring requirements including but not limited to pre-employment drug test. The compensation range for this role is $40.00 - $45.00 per hour. The final wage offer will be determined based on factors such as location, qualifications, experience, skill set, and other relevant factors.
