A Part-Time Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) provides applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy to individuals, often children, with autism or other developmental disabilities. They work under the supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to implement behavior intervention plans. Part-time RBTs typically have flexible schedules, working a set number of hours per week based on client needs. Their responsibilities include data collection, skill-building exercises, and promoting positive behaviors. This role is ideal for those seeking experience in psychology, education, or related fields.

What are the typical responsibilities of a part time RBT during a workweek?

As a Part Time RBT, your typical responsibilities include implementing treatment plans developed by Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), recording and tracking client progress through daily data collection, and assisting with skill acquisition and behavior reduction programs. You may work one-on-one with clients in various settings, such as homes, clinics, or schools, depending on the agency’s structure. Regular supervision and feedback sessions are also part of the role to ensure ongoing professional growth and adherence to best practices. Collaboration with other team members and communicating progress to families are key aspects of your weekly routine, providing both support and a well-rounded work environment.

Job description

Alpaca Health
Work Location: In Person
If you want work that challenges you, changes lives, and builds a real career, this is it. For many of our roles you don't need your RBT certification to apply. What matters most is that you love working with kids, you're dependable, and you're ready to show up. Some roles do require an active certification, but if you're not certified yet, we'll help you find your path to getting there.
Alpaca Health is a multi-state network of independent ABA therapists, working in homes, schools, and daycares. We hire certified RBTs and motivated people ready to become one. Either way, you'll work alongside a dedicated BCBA who mentors you from day one, not a manager, not a corporate supervisor.
Two ways to join
Already an RBT
  • Active RBT certification
  • Start working and earning right away
  • Work with clients in your region
  • A path toward BCBA if you want it

Not certified yet
  • A clear path to becoming an RBT, with a BCBA mentor from day one
  • Many practices in our network reimburse RBT training and pay you during hands-on learning, and we'll help match you with the right fit
  • Support as you prepare for and sit for your certification exam

The job
You'll work one-on-one with kids with autism in their homes, classrooms, and communities. Every day is different. You'll follow a personalized plan from your BCBA, implement behavior strategies, collect data, and build the consistent relationships that help kids grow. Your BCBA is closely involved and reachable, so there's no guessing and no flying solo.
What's in it for you:
  • $20-$27/hour, based on experience and location
  • Direct mentorship from a dedicated BCBA, not managers or a corporate chain of command
  • Full-time or part-time (some flexibility across mornings, afternoons, and evenings is needed to meet client needs; not sure if a schedule fits? Just ask, we have many)
  • Career growth support, including a path toward BCBA certification
  • Depending on the practice: training reimbursement and paid hands-on learning for those earning their certification

You're a good fit if you:
  • Genuinely enjoy working with children, especially kids who need extra patience and creativity
  • Have an active RBT certification, or the drive to earn one
  • Have reliable availability across mornings, afternoons, or evenings, since our clients count on consistency
  • Come from education, childcare, psychology, social work, or any role where you showed up for kids
  • Have reliable transportation to reach client homes and schools
  • Can keep up physically, getting on the floor, moving around, staying active (able to lift ~50 lbs)
  • Are at least 18, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and can pass a background check

Why Alpaca Health
We're not a big clinic chain. We're a network of independent therapists who chose this work because they believe in it, and we match every RBT with a BCBA who mentors, not manages. We match families with providers who have availability now, and we work where families actually are. If you want a career where you see the results of your work every single day, this is it.
Ready? Apply now.
Not sure if you qualify? Apply anyway and tell us about yourself. We'd rather talk to one more curious person than miss someone great.
