What is a part time RBT?

A Part-Time Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) provides applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy to individuals, often children, with autism or other developmental disabilities. They work under the supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to implement behavior intervention plans. Part-time RBTs typically have flexible schedules, working a set number of hours per week based on client needs. Their responsibilities include data collection, skill-building exercises, and promoting positive behaviors. This role is ideal for those seeking experience in psychology, education, or related fields.

What are the typical responsibilities of a part time RBT during a workweek?

As a Part Time RBT, your typical responsibilities include implementing treatment plans developed by Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), recording and tracking client progress through daily data collection, and assisting with skill acquisition and behavior reduction programs. You may work one-on-one with clients in various settings, such as homes, clinics, or schools, depending on the agency’s structure. Regular supervision and feedback sessions are also part of the role to ensure ongoing professional growth and adherence to best practices. Collaboration with other team members and communicating progress to families are key aspects of your weekly routine, providing both support and a well-rounded work environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the part time RBT position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time RBT (Registered Behavior Technician), you need a foundational understanding of applied behavior analysis (ABA), experience working with children or individuals with developmental disabilities, and a valid RBT certification. Strong communication skills, patience, and adaptability help you build rapport with clients and collaborate effectively with supervisors and families. These competencies ensure you can deliver high-quality behavioral interventions that positively impact clients’ lives and support team objectives.

What other jobs can a part time RBT get?

A part-time Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) can often transition into roles such as behavioral therapist, autism support specialist, or behavioral aide, which involve similar skills in behavior analysis and client support. Job description

Description:

Education Behavior Consultants (EBC) is hiring a clinic-based Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) to support our afternoon sessions. If you’re the kind of person who loves building real rapport, keeping sessions structured and upbeat, and being part of a team that actually supports each other, you’ll fit in well here.

Schedule & Availability (Important):

  • Part-time role
  • Afternoon availability required (typical sessions run after school hours)
  • Exceptional attendance habits are a must
  • Room to grow: additional hours may become available based on performance, schedule flexibility, and client needs

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide 1:1 ABA therapy to clients in our clinic setting
  • Implement behavior intervention plans with fidelity (and with humanity)
  • Collect accurate data during sessions and support skill acquisition goals
  • Collaborate with BCBAs/supervisors and communicate clearly about progress and barriers
  • Maintain professional documentation (session notes, data, and basic communication)
  • Support a clinic culture that’s calm, respectful, and team-first
Requirements:

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience in ABA preferred (clinic experience is a plus)
  • Strong professionalism, reliability, and follow-through
  • Comfortable receiving feedback and applying it quickly
  • Positive, steady presence with clients (and with coworkers)
  • Someone who understands that culture matters: we want teammates who are supportive, coachable, and solutions-oriented

Why EBC
We take our work seriously, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously. We’re big on:

  • Team support (you won’t be left on an island)
  • Training + growth (we build people up)
  • Clear expectations (so you can succeed)
  • A culture where showing up with good energy, humility, and accountability actually means something
