Job description

Cedarbrook Senior Care & Rehabilitation is seeking a dependable and organized Part-Time Unit Clerk to support the nursing team at our Skilled Nursing Facility in Allentown & Fountain Hill.

The Unit Clerk provides essential administrative and clerical support to the nursing units and helps ensure resident records, communication, supplies, appointments, and daily unit operations are organized and maintained accurately.

Position Details:
  • Schedule: Part-Time, Mondayโ€“Friday, 10:00 AMโ€“2:00 PM

  • Hours: 20 hours per week

  • Pay Rate: $21.85/hour

  • Benefits: This position is not benefit eligible

Duties & Responsibilites:
  • Provide clerical and administrative support to the nursing unit and nursing staff.

  • Prepare, organize, and maintain resident admission, care, and discharge records.

  • Review resident charts and documentation for completeness and proper organization and notify appropriate nursing staff of missing or incomplete information.

  • File forms, reports, and other documentation accurately in resident records and electronic systems.

  • Process notifications related to resident admissions, discharges, deaths, room changes, and transfers.

  • Enter and maintain information in computer and electronic record systems.

  • Answer telephones and intercom calls and appropriately direct questions or requests.

  • Receive, sort, and distribute mail and other correspondence.

  • Prepare laboratory slips, assist with specimen delivery, and coordinate related documentation.

  • Schedule resident appointments, routine testing, and other services as directed.

  • Assist with coordinating and escorting residents to appointments and other destinations as needed.

  • Assist nursing staff with resident-related tasks, including feeding, as appropriate.

  • Monitor and maintain appropriate supplies and forms on the nursing unit.

  • Complete inventories and order unit supplies as needed.

  • Keep the nursing station organized, clean, and adequately stocked.

  • Transcribe physician orders under the direction and supervision of nursing staff.

  • Attend required training, staff meetings, and departmental meetings.

  • Maintain confidentiality of resident information and follow all applicable policies, procedures, and privacy requirements.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • One to two years of clerical experience, preferably in a healthcare, medical, long-term care, or similar setting.

  • Experience working with medical terminology preferred.

  • Experience using computers, electronic records, Microsoft Office, and other standard office equipment.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling resident records and documentation.

  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with residents, families, nursing staff, physicians, and administrative personnel.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive resident information appropriately.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work effectively with limited supervision.

  • Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

  • Ability to safely lift, support, and maneuver residents as required by the position.
