Job description

Job Title: Radiologic Technologist

Location: RWJUH Rahway Hospital

Department Name: Radiology-Diagnostic

Pay Range: $41.15 - $54.09 per hour

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

The Radiologic Technologist performs quality diagnostic x-ray exams to all patient populations of the hospital. X-ray exams are done in the X-ray Department, portably through-out the facility and in the OR. 

The Radiologic Technologist lifts, assists and transports patients, and performs data entry for exam tracking and patient charging.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Graduate from an acreditted Radiologic Technologist program
  • Proficient in using PACS and CR systems

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • NJ Radiologic Technologist license
  • ARRT, or ARRT eligible

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Shift working, 3:30pm-12am
  • Alternate weekends required
  • Part-Time (PT)

Essential Functions:

  • Demonstrate working knowledge of exam protocols including prep, positioning, safety, technique, processing and image labeling
  • Operate Radiology equipment in a safe and efficient manner, keep room and equipment clean and in good order, and report all equipment malfunctions to supervisor
  • Produce high quality radiographs including proper positioning, markers, shielding, technique and image quality
  • Track status of exams to completion using RIS and demonstrate working knowledge of order entry system and accurately place orders
  • Perform necessary QA and record keeping functions routinely or as assigned
  • Effectively communicate exam instructions to patients, answer questions and allay anxiety
  • Use translation system when needed
  • Achieve IV Contrast Administrative competence if desired (required fro CT and MRI techs) and MRI tecand safely administers contrast media
  • Transport patients from holding area to exam rooms, to and/or from ER when necessary, and sssist with transport of patient from unit to/from Radiology department
  • Operate equipment in surgical suite, observe sterile precautions, and anticipate needs of surgeon
  • Utilize PACS and CR system and enter accurately identified and labeled images of patients, and retrieve old images and films, when necessary
  • Supervise radiology students and perform evaluations when necessary
