Job Title: Radiologic Technologist

Job Overview:

RWJBarnabas Health is looking to add a qualified full-time Radiologic Technologist in Somerville, NJ

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school graduate
  • Graduation from a recognized two-year School of Radiologic Technology.

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • Certification by American Registry of Radiographic Technologist license and NJ state license
  • BLS Certification from AHA

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Day, 40 hours/week
  • Full-Time Schedule

Essential Functions:

  • Performs each requested exam with the minimal amount of radiation to produce a high quality, interpretable radiograph.
  • Assists patient to and from the x-ray table when needed.
  • Maintains work area in an orderly manner in an effort to reduce obstacles to patient movement and to eliminate possible hazardous patient situations.
  • Responsible for selection and preparation of any contrast media used in conjunction with radiographic examinations as well as special examinations.
  • In conjunction with the radiologist, determines the appropriate contrast media to be used for a specific examination.
  • Prepares the contrast media to ensure proper dosage concentration.
  • Administers certain medias when enhancement is necessary.
  • Checks for appropriate lab work prior to the administration of contrast agents.
  • Positions patient in order to facilitate physician in performing the examination.
  • Follow the explicit orders of the physician performing the examination.
  • Anticipates the needs of physicians performing examinations.
  • Responsible for processing radiographic images going to PACS.
  • Maintains working knowledge of workstations, including rebooting when necessary, as well as deletion of studies from the work list.
  • Knows how to edit and split studies when necessary.
  • Reports damaged equipment to appropriate personnel.
  • Responsible for patient identification and indication of correct body part on all radiographic images.
  • Places initialed lead identifier indicating correct side of body prior to the time of exposure.
  • Makes sure correct name is on the image. Responsible for processing x-ray requests.
  • Enters orders on the RIS/HIS system, when needed.
  • Completes the request at the conclusion of the exam.
  • Takes diagnostic call and works weekends on a rotating basis.
  • Assists in instruction of student technologists.
  • Able to demonstrate the technical art to student radiographers.
