Job description

Produce Quality Control Evaluator

SUMMARY
The part-time Produce Quality Control Evaluator is responsible for monitoring the quality of highly perishable produce and refrigerated items (i.e. dairy, cheese, etc) daily in order to maintain customer satisfaction.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Monitors product to ensure that it is consistent with quality, quantity, specification requirements, or other factors that our customers have come to expect
  2. Checks produce in slots daily to verify product is up to acceptable standards before shipping to customers
  3. Communicates all quality issues with Produce Quality Control Supervisor and/or Produce Buyer
  4. Rotates product properly during daily slot checking and communicates any problems with rotation to the Warehouse Managers
  5. Inspects inbound freight, warehouse product, and outbound product and documents product condition
  6. Communicates regularly with necessary parties on status of product quality
  7. Observes all safety rules, regulations, and sanitation policies
  8. Performs filing and copying
  9. Other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a warehouse cooler setting. In this setting, extreme cold will be experienced. There will be exposure to noise and vibrations from forklifts and other equipment. Occasional use of pallet jacks or forklifts may be required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb; talk or hear. The employee must be capable of seeing colors. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products, supplies, and food products weighing from 10 pounds to 100 pounds.
POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a part-time, non-exempt position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. or 8:00 am to 12:00pm, however the needs of this position may require an alternative schedule and the ability to adjust the schedule as deemed appropriate by the Director of Purchasing, the Produce Buyer, and the Produce Quality Control Supervisor. This position sometimes requires long hours and weekend work.

No travel is expected for this position.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or equivalent
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Prior knowledge of produce products
