The Senior Testing Technician will be assigned to a testing and quality assurance team to perform testing of electro-mechanical equipment designed to process or augment the processing of letter mail, flats mail or packages in support of the United States Postal Service and its Engineering organization. Testing is typically performed for the purposes of qualifying equipment, accepting equipment or for data collection needs.

NOTE to potential candidates - this is a part-time position with no guaranteed hours , incumbents are surveyed at the time assignments are generated as to availability and interest in the work opportunity. Any work location within the US is acceptable. There is extensive travel within the US when an assignment is made and accepted.


Essential Functions:

  • Performs standard testing processes on a variety of equipment and records and analyzes results.
  • Requires knowledge of industry specific tests and testing equipment.
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures for equipment testing
  • Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Performs a variety of tasks. Works under direct supervision.
  • A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
  • Typically reports to a supervisor

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 3 or more years of experience in the field or in a related area
  • Experience in supporting the United States Postal Service (Operations or Maintenance) is desirable; but not mandatory
  • Experience using MS Office Suite software (Word, Excel, and Access) and specialized software programs

Additional Requirements:

  • Candidate must be able to sit, stand and work at a computer for prolonged periods
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours when needed
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check & drug test
