What is a Part Time Python Data Analyst?

A Part Time Python Data Analyst is a professional who uses the Python programming language to analyze, interpret, and visualize data, typically while working less than full-time hours. They may clean and process datasets, generate reports, create data visualizations, and support business decision-making using Python libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and Matplotlib. The part-time aspect allows flexibility, making this role suitable for students, freelancers, or individuals seeking work-life balance. These analysts often collaborate with teams to deliver actionable insights based on data trends and patterns.

What are some common challenges faced by part-time Python Data Analysts, and how can they be addressed?

Part-time Python Data Analysts often face the challenge of managing their workload within limited hours, which can make it difficult to keep up with rapidly changing project requirements or tight deadlines. Effective time management and clear communication with team members are crucial to ensure priorities are understood and tasks are completed efficiently. Additionally, staying updated on the latest Python libraries and data analysis tools can help streamline workflows and improve productivity. Collaborating closely with full-time colleagues and leveraging project management tools can also help bridge gaps in team coordination.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Part Time Python Data Analyst, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Python Data Analyst, you need strong analytical skills, proficiency in Python programming, and a background in statistics or data science, often supported by a relevant degree or coursework. Familiarity with data visualization tools (such as Tableau or matplotlib), SQL databases, and experience using data analysis libraries like pandas and NumPy are typically required. Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication help you interpret data and present insights clearly to stakeholders. These skills are crucial for translating complex data into actionable information, ensuring informed decision-making in a flexible, part-time role.

Job description

Job Summary: The Data Technician supports SWTW’s Integrated Analytics effort by managing day-to-day data entry, cleaning, quality control, and user support. Unlike typical technician roles, these positions combine human performance (HP) familiarity with technical skillsets, enabling them to troubleshoot common issues, personalize outputs, and work directly with SWTW personnel. Data Technicians ensure accuracy, timeliness, and usability of data that flows into dashboards, predictive models, and reports.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Perform data collection, cleaning, and formatting to prepare datasets for analysis
  • Attend in-person training events, to include no-fail training events, to contextualize data, facilitating a “field-to-garrison” data collection model
  • Conduct routine quality control checks to identify and resolve anomalies, duplicates, or errors at the point of data entry
  • Support Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes by staging and validating incoming data
  • Assist in the personalization of dashboards and reports based on end-user needs
  • Provide front-line technical support to SWTW personnel, escalating issues to DS L3 or PM as required
  • Work with end users (e.g., instructors, cadre, MTLs, researchers) to ensure they receive the right data for decision-making
  • Document recurring issues and resolutions for inclusion in the knowledge base
  • Support stakeholder feedback loops by capturing user inputs and routing them into the process improvement cycle
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Data Analytics, or related discipline
  • 2+ years of experience in data management, analysis, or human performance roles
  • Proficiency in at least one analytics tool (e.g., Power BI, Python, Excel)
  • Experience supporting Human Performance programs in DoD or athletic settings
  • Familiarity with DoD or academic training environments and handling of sensitive data (PII, HIPAA, CUI)
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work directly with operational stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with Air Education and Training Command (AETC), Special Warfare Training Wing (SWTW), and the AFSPECWAR pipeline
  • Experience with prominent DoD Human Performance programs
  • Prior experience with ETL, SQL, or API-based data integration
  • Demonstrated ability to balance technical accuracy with user-focused delivery
  • Passion for mission success and enthusiasm for supporting candidate development
  • Prior military service or direct experience supporting operational units
