GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:

Entry-level position as a member of a child development center parent/staff team which provides appropriate early childhood experiences for children.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

  • Assists teachers or other education staff in the implementation of center and classroom activities.
  • Ensures a safe, healthy, supervised environment for young children.
  • Participates, along with other staff members, in the daily cleaning and maintenance of the center.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding client and personnel issues, information, and records.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
    • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma, G.E.D. or begin/continue enrollment in Early Childhood Education coursework. Previous experience with young children is strongly preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Bilingual, biliterate (English/Spanish, English/Punjabi), and/or other language ability is desired. May be required, based on program needs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions.
  • Ability to understand and use a variety of computer applications and appropriate software, including spreadsheets, word processing; and workplace electronic technology, including internet access and email.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Possession of or ability to obtain Pediatric First Aid/CPR Certification within the first sixty (60) days of work; must maintain current status.
  • Possession of a valid California driver license; current personal vehicle insurance or safe driving record sufficient to ensure insurability through Agency policy.
  • May be required to use personal vehicle in successful completion of job duties and responsibilities.
