Job description

The Heavy Vehicle Test Driver conducts non-freight test driving of commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) to support customer evaluations of safety, performance, and durability. Provides clear and accurate feedback on vehicle handling, function, and overall operation.DRIVER'S PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESSafely operate and evaluate medium and heavy vehicles-including manual transmission Class 6 and Class 8 tractor-trailers and other commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) - in wide range of testing conditions to collect data and provide detailed performance feedback.Execute approved durability test schedules in accordance with established procedures.Ability to prepare clear, concise, and accurate Driver Test Reports, documenting the test results, feedback and performance of commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) with precision and attention to detail.Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections as required.Perform other related driving/vehicle preparation work as required (such as vehicle shuttling, detailing, light maintenance, washing, etc.).Operate vehicles safely in adverse and extreme conditions, including severe winter weather, extreme heat, mountainous terrain, and icy roadways.Follow all company and customer policies and procedures.Travel periodically to perform over-the-road testing and vehicle transfers as required.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESGood communication skills, both verbal and written, are a priority, with the ability to clearly report findings, observations and test results from CMV performance.Contribute to a positive work environment and promote overall team effort.Focus on meeting and exceeding company and customer expectations.Responsibilities involve a definite degree of skill, experience, accuracy and cooperation.Possess a thorough understanding of company and customer policies and procedures.Promote safety awareness and ensure compliance with all safety practices.Able to contribute to a team environment.Must be flexible and available for travel as required or requested by the customer, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.JOB REQUIREMENTSRequired Skills/Experience:Must have and active Class A CDL, a current DOT Medical Examiner's Card and at least 3 years' tractor-trailer experience.Driving Record Specifications:No at-fault accidents within the past 3 years.No DUIs/DWIs within the past 5 years.No major violations in the past 3 years (e.g., 20+ mph over speed limit, reckless driving, license suspension).No more than 2 miscellaneous tickets, citations, or violations within the past 3 years.Candidates may also be disqualified for other serious or safety-related events not specifically listed above.CRITICAL SKILLSSafety: Abides by, promotes, and acknowledges all safety practices in keeping with high safety standards and in compliance with FMCSA and DOT regulations.Communications: Must provide information and receive feedback in a concise, accurate and detailed manner.Dependability: Display ability to successfully and satisfactorily complete assigned tasks.Cooperation: Exhibit characteristics of an effective team member focused on a common goal.Initiative and Resourcefulness: Possess initiative to take effective action, anticipate needs and perform with available resources.Flexibility: Willing and able to expand the scope of responsibilities as business needs require.Commitment: Able to accept assigned tasks with a quality result as an objective.Dedication: Demonstrate the ability to consistently perform all responsibilities with integrity.Role Model: Serve as an example for company's vision and values.Result Oriented: Accomplish performance targets established by the company and customer.Other important considerations include:Safety Sensitive position requiring all persons assigned to activity be drug free and pass drug screening prior to employmentPhysical Requirements:Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.Role requires sitting, standing, and bending for approximately 6 - 8 hours daily.Prolonged routine sitting for 2 or more hours.What we offer you:Weekly Pay/Direct DepositSchedule flexibilityCompetitive benefits such as Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 401k and Vacation!Employee referral bonus, earn up to $500.00 per referralSafety, quality and professionalism
