Part Time Prompt Engineering information

What are some common challenges faced in a part-time prompt engineering role, and how can they be managed effectively?

Part-time prompt engineers often need to quickly adapt to changing project requirements and work with limited context compared to full-time counterparts. Balancing multiple tasks within reduced hours can make it challenging to stay updated on the latest AI model developments and best practices. To manage these challenges, effective time management, clear communication with the team, and utilizing collaborative tools are essential. Regularly reviewing project documentation and participating in knowledge-sharing sessions can also help part-time prompt engineers stay aligned with team goals and maintain high-quality outputs.

What is part time prompt engineering?

Part time prompt engineering refers to working on designing, testing, and refining prompts for artificial intelligence systems, such as large language models, on a part-time basis. Prompt engineers help improve how AI models understand and respond to user inputs by crafting effective instructions or questions. This role typically involves collaborating with teams to optimize AI outputs for specific tasks or applications. Part time positions allow for flexible work schedules, making it suitable for students or professionals seeking supplemental income.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Part Time Prompt Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Prompt Engineer, you need a solid understanding of natural language processing (NLP), creativity in language design, and familiarity with AI model behavior, often supported by a background in computer science or linguistics. Proficiency with tools like OpenAI APIs, prompt testing platforms, and version control systems (e.g., Git) is important, and certifications in AI or data science can be advantageous. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication help in refining prompts and collaborating with cross-functional teams. These combined skills ensure prompts are clear, effective, and aligned with intended outcomes, resulting in optimal AI model performance.

Job description

About Encircle

Encircle is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing family and community together to enable LGBTQ+ youth and young adults to thrive. Our homes provide a safe, affirming space where individuals can find psychological safety, community connection, and specialized mental health services.

At the heart of Encircle is our foundational philosophy: "No Sides, Only Love." We do not take sides against families, nor do we compromise on the absolute love and affirmation our queer youth deserve. We believe that healing happens when we build bridges rather than walls. Our clinical team must deeply align with this particular mission, bringing a high degree of cultural humility, warmth, and a systemic approach to family connection and growth.

Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate, fully licensed therapist (LCSW, LMFT, CMHC) to provide high-quality outpatient psychotherapy at our St. George home. This role is ideal for a clinician who thrives in an autonomous environment, values community-embedded care, and wants the flexibility to build their own schedule while being an active champion of Encircle's mission.

To start, this is a part-time position with excellent potential to expand in hours or scope depending on organizational fit, clinical need, and your professional goals. You will have control over your schedule, provided it aligns with the hours our physical space is open to the community.

Location: St. George, UT (In-Person at the Encircle St. George Home)

Position Type: Part-Time (Hourly, with potential room for growth based on fit and caseload demand)

Schedule: Flexible/Self-Set (Must align with general home hours, typically 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM Mon-Fri for in-person sessions)

Key Responsibilities & Clinical Scope

  • Direct Clinical Care: Conduct individual, family, or relationship therapy sessions for LGBTQ+ youth, young adults, and their families within the St. George community.
  • Mission Alignment: Embody the "No Sides, Only Love" ethos in clinical practice, actively working to decrease youth suicidality by strengthening family connections and fostering mutual understanding.
  • Caseload Expectation: Maintain an active part-time caseload of at least 10 to 12 clients per week.
  • In-Person Connection: Provide a steady physical presence in the home to foster continuity of care. At least 70% of clinical sessions must be conducted in person or at least two days a week, depending on individual client needs. Telehealth sessions can be integrated flexibly outside of standard home hours or as clinical needs dictate.
  • Affirmative Interventions: Utilize evidence-based, LGBTQ+-affirming, and relational interventions to address minority stress, family dynamics, identity development, and trauma.
  • Documentation & Accountability: Maintain timely and thorough clinical records (including intakes, progress notes, and treatment plans) in our Electronic Health Record (EHR) system, TherapyNotes, adhering to standard ethical and legal frameworks.
  • Clinical Consultation: Attend a mandatory, weekly 1-hour clinical consultation meeting held on Wednesdays at noon to collaborate on cases, share resources, and ensure alignment with Encircle's affirmative care model. This time is fully compensated.
  • Community Integration: Collaborate naturally with the St. George home's operations team to ensure a seamless, warm handoff between community programming and clinical services.
  • Marketing Efforts: Maintain a Psychology Today profile, which Encircle will pay for during your employment.

Compensation & Administrative Support Structure

We aim to minimize the administrative burdens often associated with private practice so you can focus entirely on client care.

  • Robust Support System: Encircle provides complete marketing and referral management, a fully staffed administrative team to handle intake coordination, and a fully supported EHR platform (TherapyNotes).
  • Per-Session Compensation: Clinicians are compensated at a per-session rate of $60, paid out biweekly upon the prompt completion of the corresponding clinical documentation.
  • Late Cancellation & No-Show Policy: To respect our clinicians' time, clients are assessed a fee for late cancellations and missed appointments. A portion of this collected fee is directly passed through to the clinician to compensate for the blocked hour.

Required Qualifications

  • Licensure: Full, independent clinical licensure in the State of Utah (LCSW, LMFT, or CMHC). Please note: We cannot accept pre-licensed applicants or associates for this specific role at this time.
  • Credentialing: Current credentialing with major insurance panels (SelectHealth, BCBS, EMI, etc.) is highly preferred and will receive priority consideration.
  • Clinical Expertise: Demonstrated experience and deep competence in working with LGBTQ+ individuals, adolescents, young adults, and families.
  • Frameworks & Values: Strong foundational knowledge of the minority stress model and affirmative therapeutic practices. Candidates must demonstrate an active commitment to Encircle's specific model of family preservation and bridge-building.
  • Autonomy: Ability to manage a caseload independently, organize clinical hours effectively, and maintain ethical boundaries in a vibrant, community-centered environment.

Schedule & Flexibility

  • Set Your Own Hours: You have the freedom to structure your weekly availability around the mandatory Wednesday midday consultation.
  • In-Person Alignment: In-person sessions must occur when the St. George home is open to the public, generally between 3:00 PM and 8:00 PM.
  • Telehealth Flexibility: Telehealth hours are highly flexible and can be scheduled at your convenience to fill out your desired part-time caseload.

Equal Opportunity Employer

Encircle is committed to creating an inclusive workplace. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences. We strongly encourage LGBTQIA+ clinicians and allies to apply.
