FLSA Status: Part Time-Non-Exempt Pay Range: $12.82-$16.02-$19.23

Reports to: Recreation Coordinator Revision Date: 3.10.2026

POSITION SUMMARY:ย 

Supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Builds members and the community's understanding of the YMCA's impact.ย 

This position helps in developing, supporting and instruction of Y programs in a variety of program areas at the YMCA in a safe, enjoyable, culturally aware, and positive environment that promotes youth development, social responsibility, and healthy living, following YMCA policies and procedures. Program areas may include Gymnastics, Ninja, Fitness, PE, Teens, Adults, Aquatics, Climbing Wall, and Pickleball.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Builds personal and meaningful relationships with YMCA members, participants, volunteers, and guests. While exemplifying Y's commitment to the four-character values of caring, honesty, respect & responsibility and responding to all member and community inquiries promptly.ย 
  2. Supports the development, leadership, and instruction of educational classes and programs that are engaging, fun, culturally inclusive, and safe, following the direction of the supervisor to advance the YMCA's mission and goals.
  3. Helps to set up new program activities and expand programs in youth and adult sports with a focus on youth development and healthy living following strategic operating plans.
  4. Answer questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility.ย 
  5. Convey program information, surveys, and annual campaigns to participants.ย 
  6. Follow all YMCA emergency and safety procedures.ย 
  7. Upholds all YMCA policies, procedures, standards, and code of conduct.ย 
  8. Project a positive, enthusiastic, and professional image on the job.ย 
  9. Fulfills any other functions designated by the YMCA Administration.


Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be able to implement oral and written instructions.
  2. 1-2 years of earlier experience working with all ages in a recreational or educational setting.
  3. ย 5+ years of working with all ages in a recreational, educational setting or coaching is preferred.
  4. ย Knowledge of program management. Ie. Sports Leagues are preferred.
