The mission of Carolina Performing Arts (CPA) is to spark curiosity, inspiring all members of our community to discover and more fully engage with the world. Through the Office of the Executive Director for the Arts (EDA), CPA oversees all artistic programming, campus and community engagement, marketing and fundraising for its presented, commissioned and produced work, and manages all operations of its venues including facility rentals, technical production, audience services and ticketing.

Position Summary
The Business Systems and Finance Lead plays a critical role at Carolina Performing Arts (CPA). As a member of the Business Office team, this role reports to the Director of Operations and Strategy and collaborates with CPA staff to support the planning, operations, and administrative efforts behind the Carolina Performing Arts' season.
The duties of this position span three primary functional areas: database development & administration; finance transactions & reconciliation; and administrative/clerical.

Database Development & Administration

Lead the tracking, reconciliation, and analysis of the unit's operational data to ensure accuracy, compliance, and informed decision-making. Maintain and analyze database reports supporting monthly expenses and labor cost reconciliation, including the allocation of hourly payroll costs for performances and rental events.

Finance Transactions & Reconciliation

Manage and execute a high volume of routine and complex financial transactions, including invoices, vendor and artist payments, purchase orders, reimbursements, student awards, travel, billing, and correction journals.
Administrative/Clerical
Train staff and maintain utilization documentation on business processes, databases, reporting tools, and operational procedures, coordinate the planning, delivery, and tracking of standard unit training, and serve as an ongoing resource for staff using these tools. Provide backup coverage for core administrative functions, including office operations, inventory management, basic IT coordination, and front-office support as needed.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in accounting work; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Management Preferences
Demonstrated advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 Suite, Power Automate, Forms, Excel, or Access Database, including basic SQL programming knowledge for data organization.
Strong analytical skills including the ability to assess data accuracy, validity, or integrity.
Demonstrated organizational skills while operating in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work independently with limited direction, with ability to identify when to ask for help or seek expertise from others.
Demonstrated ability to multi-task while adhering to deadlines.
