Elk Grove Village, Illinois, (pop. 33,127), a strategically located, progressive community that is home to the largest consolidated business park in North America, is seeking a dynamic, detailed and skills-oriented candidate for the position of Property Room Assistant/Court Liaison in the Police Department. Elk Grove Village is located in Cook and DuPage Counties adjacent to OHare International Airport and is home to approximately 3,600 businesses, located in its 5.4 square mile Business Park.

The Village of Elk Grove is seeking a Property Room Assistant/Court Liaison. The Property Room Assistant/Court Liaison position is a part-time, non-sworn position that provides a variety of administrative support roles to the Elk Grove Village Police Department.


The Property Room Assistant/Court Liaison reports to the Criminal Investigations Sergeant within the Identification Section and may receive direction from the Records Supervisor and Deputy Police Chief of Support Services. This position supports the Chief of Police, Command Staff, sworn officers, and civilian staff. The incumbent may work independently or as part of a team on assigned tasks and operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Property Control Custodian

  • Receive, store, release, and dispose of physical evidence and personal property in accordance with department directives and Illinois statutes.
  • Maintain accurate chain of custody records for all evidence and property handled by the Department.
  • Prepare and transport evidence to state and county crime laboratories for analysis.
  • Prepare and deliver evidence and related materials for court proceedings as required.

Court Liaison

  • Serve as the Departments primary liaison with the courts and attend meetings with court officials as required.
  • Coordinate court schedules, prepare court-related documentation, and ensure timely delivery of transmittals and materials to the courthouse.
  • Respond to court inquiries and ensure compliance with court orders regarding evidence and records production.
  • Monitor and oversee sworn and civilian personnel in courtroom settings to ensure compliance with department directives and court protocols.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Completion of 30 credit hours of college course work, with an Associate's Degree from an accredited college preferred, as well as a minimum of three to five years of municipal law enforcement experience, or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training in required.

This position is responsible for a high degree of accuracy in all administrative and office responsibilities. Must be well-versed in criminal and court proceedings. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS: Possess a valid State of Illinois Drivers License and safe driving record.

HOURS OF WORK: 20 hours per week STARTING WAGE: $32.86 per hour
