What is a Part Time PM&R Physician?

A Part Time PM&R Physician, also known as a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation doctor or physiatrist, is a medical doctor who specializes in helping patients recover from injuries, illnesses, or disabilities that affect movement and function. Working part time means they may have flexible hours or reduced schedules compared to full-time physicians, allowing them to balance work with other commitments. They focus on improving quality of life through non-surgical treatments, such as physical therapy, medications, and rehabilitation plans tailored to each patient.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Part Time PM&R Physician, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time PM&R (Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation) Physician, you need a medical degree, completion of a PM&R residency, and board certification or eligibility. Familiarity with EMR systems, rehabilitation equipment, and diagnostic tools such as musculoskeletal ultrasound is common in this role.
