Job description

Employed by Deaconess (Part-Time 0.5 FTE = 7/8 days a month)

Competitive compensation package ($168K) and quality bonus. Sign-on bonus ($25K) and relocation dollars included ($15K); possibility for student loan repayment if applicable ($25K).

Deaconess Health System
Deaconess is the largest health system in the region and consists of 15 fully owned hospitals and five affiliate hospitals in southern Indiana, western Kentucky and southern Indiana. The Deaconess Health System also consists of 50 ambulatory care locations across the region that provide the full range of health care services. Growing Pediatric service line with subspecialty coverage including Infectious Disease, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, and Endocrinology.
Fully staffed multidisciplinary unit including pediatric subspecialists, respiratory therapist, certified pediatric nurses, dieticians, and therapy.

Epic Electronic Medical Record shared between the clinics and hospitals

Qualified Candidates:

  • Board eligible or board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics; Pediatric Critical Care certification preferred.
  • Available to work block scheduling, service covers hospital 24/7. Call from home
  • Ability to work days and nights as well as cover the pediatric sedation service.
  • Physician is expected to be available for critical care admission while working, by physicians presence on site is not required for the entire 24- our shift. If patients are in the PICU 8hrs of onsite care is required for leapfrog standards.
  • Attending Pediatric Department meeting (bimonthly) and monthly Pediatrics Core Care Team as a member of the Pediatric Center of Excellence.


Hospital Coverage: Deaconess Gateway Hospital for critical care with 5 PICU beds, sedations at Deaconess Gateway, and intermittently at Deaconess Midtown Hospital for pediatric trauma patients.

Required Qualifications

The Pediatric Intensivist Physician must be a graduate of an accredited school of medicine with completion of an approved Pediatric Residency; critical care training preferred
