Micron Products is seeking an experienced Senior Metrologist / CMM Programmer to support our quality assurance and metrology functions. This role is ideal for a highly skilled metrology professional with strong experience in CMM operation and programming, particularly Hexagon PC-DMIS, who is looking to make a meaningful impact within a dynamic manufacturing environment.

The Senior Metrologist / CMM Programmer is responsible for supporting quality assurance and metrology activities to ensure products meet internal and customer specifications. This role involves developing and executing measurement strategies, programming and operating CMMs and vision systems, supporting validation activities, analyzing data, identifying root causes of quality issues, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.Metrology & Inspection
  • Program, set up, and operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), with a strong emphasis on Hexagon PC-DMIS programming.
  • Program and operate Vision Measurement Systems and other advanced inspection equipment.
  • Develop and implement measurement methodologies for plastic and metal components.
  • Create and maintain CMM programs, inspection plans, and work instructions.
  • Train inspectors and other personnel on measurement methods and inspection requirements.
  • Schedule and manage measurement activities, including Gage R&R and Bias studies.
  • Create, maintain, and support Statistical Process Control (SPC) inspections and data collection systems.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
  • Support Micron's Quality Management System requirements.
  • Assist with training related to:
    • Good Documentation Practices (GDP)
    • Statistical Process Control (SPC)
    • Auditing
    • Quality System requirements
  • Promote quality standards and best practices throughout the organization.
Process Improvement & Data Analysis
  • Analyze production and quality data to identify trends, root causes, and improvement opportunities.
  • Support corrective and preventive action activities.
  • Work within statistical sampling plans, including ANSI Z1.4 requirements.
  • Recommend and implement metrology and inspection process improvements.
Validation Support
  • Assist in developing measurement qualifications and validation protocols.
  • Support product and process validation activities through measurement planning, execution, and analysis.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Support Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Development, and Quality teams with metrology expertise.
  • Work with customers and suppliers regarding specifications, inspection methods, and acceptance criteria.
  • Provide technical recommendations to ensure product conformance and manufacturability.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or
  • Minimum of five years of experience in a Metrologist, CMM Programmer, or related metrology role.
  • Medical device manufacturing experience preferred.
Technical Skills
  • Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience operating and programming CMMs.
  • Strong proficiency with Hexagon PC-DMIS programming is highly preferred and considered a key qualification for this role.
  • Proficiency with Vision Measurement Systems, including programming and operation.
  • Strong understanding of dimensional metrology and measurement system analysis.
  • Strong understanding of blueprint reading and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience performing Gage R&R, Bias Studies, and SPC analysis.
  • Skilled in using optical and mechanical measurement equipment.
  • Working knowledge of plastic injection molding and metal manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with ERP systems (IQMS preferred).
  • Familiarity with ISO 13485 and FDA-regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Minitab.
Preferred Certifications
  • ASQ Certified Calibration Technician or equivalent certification.
