Job description

Part-Time Music Teacher

Location: Woonsocket, RI 02895

School: Good Shepherd School

Position: Part-Time Music Teacher (Monday and Tuesday)

Start Date: 2026-2027 School Year

About the Position

Good Shepherd School is seeking a part-time Music Teacher to join our team on Mondays and Tuesdays beginning with the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for music and incorporate that love into their instructional practices. A strong commitment to Catholic education and enthusiasm for collaborating as part of the Specials team are essential.

Reporting

This position is hired by and reports directly to the Principal.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Instruct students in music for grades PreK-5, using engaging and differentiated instructional strategies to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Support and uphold the schoolโ€™s mission and the teachings of the Catholic Church in both word and action.
  • Grades 3-8 choir for school Masses.
  • Work closely with classroom teachers to prepare for the annual Christmas Concert.
  • Utilize effective instructional methods and best practices appropriate for the grade levels taught.
  • Incorporate technology into lesson planning as appropriate for the developmental levels of the students.
  • Practice positive and consistent discipline to manage the classroom environment effectively.
  • Maintain consistent, positive, and open communication with parents regarding their childโ€™s progress.
  • Keep current and accurate records in accordance with school policies.
  • Work collaboratively with all members of the school community to foster a supportive and cooperative environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.
Qualifications

  • Demonstrate a commitment to Catholic education and values.
  • Show enthusiasm and willingness to work collaboratively as part of the Specials team.
  • Experience teaching music to elementary and middle school students (grades PreK-8) preferred.
  • Be skilled in integrating technology into music instruction.
  • Possess strong classroom management and communication skills.
