Shift Timings & Days: (Saturday - Sunday)  06:00 am - 02:00 pm

Reports to: ProgramManager

Compensation: (Grid 9)$27.17 - $28.97


Job Summary:

The Cook at Phoenix Society is responsible for preparingmeals and following established recipes. Key duties include preparingingredients, adhering to the menu, and following food health and safetyprocedures. The position is required to cook, clean, assist other kitchenstaff, and deliver food in a fast-paced environment. The Cook ensures that menuitems are of high quality and distributed in a timely fashion. Also from timeto time able to work for sister sites and phoenix food truck as needed.


Responsibilities:

  • Setup, clean and organize work stations with all necessary supplies
  • Prepareingredients for the day; wash, chop and season meat, vegetables, etc.
  • Prepareand cook menu items according to nutritional standards with other kitchen staff
  • Handlemultiple food orders at one time
  • Delivermenu items to clients as required
  • Storeand dispose of any food properly
  • Ensuresufficient stock and inventory of food, supplies and equipment
  • Sanitizeand clean work stations and kitchen supplies
  • Complywith health and safety and sanitation standards
  • Ensurethat food is distributed in high quality and in a timely fashion
  • Performother duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Highschool diploma or equivalent
  • RedSeal certification is required
  • 1to 3 years of experience in preparing, cooking and delivering meals
  • Satisfactory completionof a criminal records check with vulnerable sector screening is required
  • Satisfactory completionof Tuberculosis Screening form is required
  • Satisfactory completionof Employee Immunization Record form is required
  • First aid certificationwith CPR is required
  • FoodSafe Level 1 is required

  • Excellentknowledge of daily meal preparation
  • Strongorganizational and time management skills with a high attention to detail
