Part-Time CRMA – Weekend Recovery Residence Staff

Location: Fred's House – Portland, Maine
Schedule: Part-Time, Weekends (Day and/or Evening Shifts)
Reports To: Recovery Residence Manager

Position Summary

Fred's House is a men's recovery residence providing a safe, structured, and recovery-oriented living environment for individuals working toward long-term recovery from substance use disorders.

The Weekend Part-Time CRMA is responsible for maintaining the safety, stability, and daily operations of the residence while supporting residents in achieving their recovery goals. This position combines Certified Residential Medication Aide (CRMA) responsibilities with peer support, resident supervision, transportation, documentation, and general household oversight.

Essential Responsibilities

Resident Support

  • Build positive, respectful relationships with residents.
  • Encourage recovery-focused behaviors and healthy decision-making.
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and accountability.
  • Assist residents with problem-solving and accessing community resources.
  • Help maintain a safe, respectful, and recovery-oriented environment.
  • Monitor resident compliance with house expectations and program rules.

Medication Administration

  • Administer medications in accordance with Maine CRMA regulations.
  • Accurately document medication administration.
  • Complete medication counts each shift.
  • Report medication concerns or errors immediately.
  • Monitor residents for medication-related concerns and notify clinical staff when appropriate.

Recovery Residence Operations

  • Complete routine resident safety and wellness checks.
  • Perform admissions and orientations as assigned.
  • Assist with resident discharges.
  • Conduct room inspections.
  • Complete daily logs and incident reports.
  • Ensure compliance with house rules and safety procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA.

Transportation

  • Transport residents to:
    • Medical appointments
    • Recovery meetings
    • Employment
    • Court
    • Community appointments
  • Maintain transportation logs and vehicle cleanliness.

Household Responsibilities

  • Prepare or assist with meals when needed.
  • Monitor cleanliness of common areas.
  • Assist residents with household chores.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies.
  • Report maintenance issues promptly.

Documentation

  • Complete shift reports before leaving.
  • Document significant resident interactions.
  • Complete incident reports when required.
  • Maintain accurate medication documentation.
  • Communicate important information during shift handoff.

Qualifications

Required

  • Active Maine CRMA Certification
  • Valid Maine Driver's License
  • Clean driving record
  • Ability to pass required background checks
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
