Job description

General Statement of Duties Forsyth County's Parks and Recreation Department has an excellent part-time opportunity to work outdoors at Triad Park as a Maintenance Technician I. This position performs duties associated with maintenance of park grounds and will have direct interaction with park patrons and will provide information and instruction to guest that are utilizing park facilities and assist with requests to ensure that facility is acceptable for rental period. Responsible for operation and general maintenance of a variety of small equipment.

Work Schedule: Friday - Monday 7:00 am - 3:00 pm (April - October) Friday - Monday 7:00 am - 2:00 pm (November - March) (Schedules are subject to change as needed) Uniforms are provided. Benefits for this position include vacation and sick leave, paid holidays, participation in NC retirement system, and 401k contribution. Distinguishing Features A successful candidate should have the following knowledge, skills and abilities: Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees.

Ability to follow written and oral instruction. Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public. Ability to independently adhere to a time schedule.

Ability to maintain order and ensure compliance with rules. Ability to operate and care for power equipment and hand tools. Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public.

Ability to regularly lift 50 pounds. Minimum Education and Experience Graduation from high school or GED and one year experience in basic building or grounds maintenance work. A valid driver's license is required.

Must have demonstrated ability to safely operate small to medium motorized equipment. An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered for minimum qualification requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Perform general groundskeeping tasks: mowing, mulching, line trimming, backpack blowing, pruning, leaf and snow removal.

Conduct trail maintenance and small repair projects: fencing, gravel spreading, picnic table repair, staining, and painting. Maintain public areas: shelters, restrooms (cleaning and restocking), grills, trash and pet waste stations Lock/unlock park access gates and facilities as needed. Interact with park patrons: provide information, assist with facility rentals, and ensure guest needs are met.

Support special events: assist with setup, cleanup, and parking on Memorial Day and Veterans Day prior, during, and after event festivities. Operate and maintain small maintenance equipment.
