Department Overview

Our Minneapolis critical care float team is an integral part of nursing services provided within our critical care community. Team members work within our pediatric intensive care unit and cardiovascular intensive care unit.   Staff are able to expand their skills over time to provide support in other areas, including the emergency department and post-anesthesia care unit. Our critical care units care for children with a variety of acute and chronic illnesses, including those with respiratory, neurological and cardiovascular origins. Many of our patients require assisted ventilation, and some  continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT). We value teamwork, open communication, safety and respect. We embrace an environment that encourages learning and professional growth. Our amazing team is committed to providing excellent care to our patients and families. Position Summary
Coordinates and provides family-centered nursing care to infants, children and adolescents, utilizing the nursing process. Accountable for professional practice including independent nursing functions and delegated medical functions performed in collaboration with other health team members.
THIS IS AN MNA CONTRACT POSITION.
 

Education Requirements:
* Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. 
* Current Minnesota RN licensure. 
* Current BLS certification. 
* One (1) year experience (within the last 2 years) working with specialized patient population (e.g. Float Critical Care). Pediatric experience preferred.
* An informational meeting with the Patient Care Manager is required prior to awarding the position.
* Based upon the unit in which you are applying, additional certification(s) may be required. Department specific required qualifications need to be obtained within 6 months of employment.
* Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required or obtained during orientation.
