The University of Miami/UHealth Bascom Palmer Eye Institute has an exciting opportunity for a per diem Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) in Miami. The CRNA prepares prescribed solutions and administers anesthetic following specified methods and procedures. Moreover, the incumbent works in collaboration with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other physicians and medical professionals to deliver anesthesia for medical and surgical procedures.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Preforms pre and post anesthesia patient visits and documents anesthesia notes on patient records.

  • Reviews medical history, evaluating patients and determining proper methods of anesthesia.

  • Performs or evaluate diagnostic tests, such as radiographs (x-rays) and electrocardiograms (EKG's).

  • Measures and monitors the level and speed at which anesthesia is administered.

  • Monitors patient vital signs to ensure safety, to include skin color, pupil dilation, pulse, heart rate, blood pressure, respiration, ventilation or urine output.

  • Informs physician of patient's condition during anesthesia.

  • Manages patients' airway or pulmonary status using techniques, such as endotracheal intubation, mechanical ventilation, pharmacological support, respiratory therapy, and extubation.

  • Oversees patient recovery from anesthesia and cares for patient's immediate post-operative needs.

  • Prepares prescribed solutions and administers local, intravenous, spinal or other anesthetics following specified methods and procedures.

  • Responds to emergency situations by providing airway management, administering fluids or drugs, and using basic or advanced life support techniques.

  • Develops anesthesia care plans.

  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Education:
Master's degree in relevant field required
Experience:
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience required
Certification and Licensing:
Valid State of Florida APRN license
