Responsibilities

Shift requiirments: 6 shifts in 8 weeks, 2 night, 3 weekends

The Intensive Care Units at The George Washington University Hospital deliver advanced, highacuity care to some of the most critically ill patients in the region. ICU nurses here are not limited to a single specialty unitour team practices across all critical care areas, gaining broad expertise while supporting diverse patient populations with complex, lifethreatening conditions.

Our ICUs include:

  • Medical ICU 32 beds: Complex medical critical care

  • Surgical ICU 24 beds: Postoperative and surgical specialty care

  • Trauma ICU 20 beds: Highacuity trauma and resuscitation

  • Neuro ICU 20 beds: Neurological and neurosurgical critical care

  • Cardiovascular ICU 24 beds: Advanced cardiac, surgical cardiac, and ECMO support

Working across these units, ICU nurses develop mastery in ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, advanced pharmacologic therapies, and multidisciplinary critical care collaboration.
