What is a part time organizer?

Part time organizers are professionals who help individuals, businesses, or groups manage and streamline their spaces, schedules, or events on a part-time basis. Their tasks may include decluttering homes, coordinating small events, or assisting with administrative organization, depending on their specialty. Working part time allows them flexibility to take on multiple clients or balance organizing with other commitments. They are skilled in time management, communication, and problem-solving to help clients achieve their organizational goals efficiently.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time organizer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Organizer, you need strong organizational abilities, attention to detail, and time management skills, often supported by prior experience in administrative or coordination roles. Familiarity with scheduling software, spreadsheets, and project management tools like Trello or Asana is typically important. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills help you build rapport with clients and efficiently handle changing priorities. These capabilities ensure smooth operations, client satisfaction, and the ability to juggle multiple tasks effectively in a part-time capacity.

What are some common challenges faced by part time organizers, and how can they be managed effectively?

Part-time organizers often juggle multiple projects or clients, which can make time management and prioritization challenging. Balancing organizational tasks with a limited schedule requires strong communication with clients to set clear expectations and deadlines. Additionally, adapting quickly to different environments and organizational systems is crucial. Building a flexible workflow and using digital tools for scheduling and task tracking can help manage these challenges effectively.

Job description

Theย Black to the Future Action Fundย is a 501(c)(4) that works to transform Black communities into constituencies that build independent, progressive Black political power in cities and states, enacting policy that improves the lives of Black people so that Black people have what all people deserve - dignity, safety, and power. This is a shared position with its sister organization,ย Black Futures Lab, a 501(c)(3) that transforms Black communities into constituencies that wield independent political power at the municipal, state, and federal levels.ย ย

The problems Black communities faceย areย complex, and the solutions require imagination, experimentation, and political power. Together, we combine strategies that help us imagine the alternatives we deserve with the organizing that builds the power to make them real.ย

Election Impact Organizersย are part of a team of social justice advocates who inform and mobilize voters through door-to-door canvassing, phone and text banking, social media, and community events. Our goal is toย impactย the 2026 General Election by engaging Black voters on the issues that matter most to them and energizing them to head to the polls. Election Impact Organizers report directly to the Election Impact Team Leader.ย

ย Whatย You'llย Do:ย ย

  • Reach voters daily with election-related messaging through door-to-door canvassing, phone and text banking, social media posts, and community events and meetingsย
  • Enter voter data accurately intoย MiniVANย
  • Completeย accurateย daily reportsย
  • Follow the provided script and shareย accurateย information with residentsย
  • Meet the required number of voter contacts per shiftย
  • Stay informed about the political issues relevant to the campaignย

This job description is not intended to be a comprehensive list of all duties, responsibilities, or activities, which may change at any time with or withoutย notice.

Requirements

Whatย We'reย Looking For:ย

  • Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with a positive, enthusiastic approach to engaging Black voters across a range of social and economic backgroundsย
  • Reliability and follow-through - arriving on time and prepared at staging locations, events, and meetingsย
  • Comfort using a smartphone, web browser, and theย MiniVANย app to record voter responses, send texts, make calls, andย submitย social media posts (a personal smartphone compatible withย MiniVAN, able to send texts and take photos,ย isย required)ย
  • Ability to read a map and follow an assigned routeย
  • Flexibility and adaptability as the needs of the Election Impact Team changeย
  • Willingness to attend mandatory orientation and all trainingsย

Helpful, but notย required:ย

  • Previousย experience with a campaign, community organization, sales, or customer serviceย
  • Existing relationships with local community groups and organizationsย
  • Bilingualย English-Spanishย orย English-Haitianย Creoleย

Physical Requirements:ย

  • This role can be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.ย
  • Door-to-door canvassing involves walking a precinct ofย roughly 10-12 city blocks, standing or walking for up to about 4 hours per shift in varying weather, and carrying up to 10 poundsย
  • Phone and text banking involves working through call and text lists using a provided scriptย

Travel:ย

  • Organizersย are responsible forย getting themselves to assigned staging locations and turf.ย A valid driver's license and access to an insured vehicle during working hours isย required.ย
  • If you choose to use a personal vehicle and would like mileage reimbursement, a valid driver's license and proof of insurance areย required, and reimbursement is provided at the federal mileage rate.ย

Position Type and Compensation:ย

    • Part-time, temporary, non-exempt (hourly)ย
    • Estimated late August through early November 2026ย
    • Up to 25 hours per weekย
    • $22.00 per hourย
    • Mileage reimbursement available at the federal mileage rate for approved personal-vehicle useย

Equalย Employmentย Opportunity:ย

Black Futures Lab and Black to the Future Action Fund are committed toย providingย equal employment opportunities and supporting an inclusive environment for all applicants. If you require reasonable accommodations during the application or interview process, please reach out to us atย people@blackfutureslab.org. We are here to ensure that all applicants canย participateย fully and fairly in our hiring process.ย

How toย Apply:ย

Ready to help mobilize voters and build power this election season?ย We'dย love to hear from you!ย The application is short - no resumeย needed.ย You'llย just share your contact information, a bit about why this work matters to you, and any relevant experienceย you'dย likeย to highlight.ย We accept and review applications on a rolling basis until our positions are filled, so we encourage you to apply early.
