What are some common challenges faced by part time oral surgery faculty, and how can they be managed effectively?

Part-time oral surgery faculty often balance clinical practice with teaching responsibilities, which can make time management a key challenge. Coordinating with full-time faculty and adapting to varying student schedules requires flexibility and strong communication skills. To manage these challenges, maintaining clear communication with department leadership, setting consistent office hours, and leveraging digital tools for course materials and feedback can help ensure both students' learning needs and faculty commitments are met effectively.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time oral surgery faculty, and why are they important?

To excel as a Part Time Oral Surgery Faculty, you need advanced clinical expertise in oral and maxillofacial surgery, a dental degree (DDS or DMD), and board certification or eligibility. Familiarity with surgical instruments, digital imaging systems, and electronic health record (EHR) management is commonly required. Strong communication, mentorship, and organizational skills help foster a positive learning environment for students and residents. These competencies ensure high standards of patient care, effective education, and ongoing professional development in academic settings.
