PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

Reporting to the Manager IS Intermodal Technical Solution, the Senior Software Developer (Senior Specialist Software Developer Custom Solution) will support mission‑critical enterprise and operational systems through a blend of greenfield development, modernization of legacy platforms, and ongoing application support.

This role is ideal for an experienced developer who thrives in complex, highly integrated environments and is passionate about building scalable, reliable solutions. The successful candidate will contribute across the full software lifecycle - designing and developing new applications, upgrading existing technologies, enhancing system functionality, and ensuring the stability and performance of production systems. In addition, this role supports continuous improvement through automation, cloud innovation, and helping drive a high‑performing and collaborative engineering culture.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze, design, and document technical specifications that address validated business requirements
  • Design, deploy, and support a wide variety of application software, ranging from standalone tools to highly integrated, complex cross-functional systems
  • Participate in reviews of SDLC deliverables and processes to share best practices and foster continuous improvement across teams
  • Contribute to all phases of application testing, from unit testing to integration testing, ensuring robust and high-quality software solutions
  • Engage in post-implementation assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of application solutions and identify areas for improvement
  • Monitor system performance and stability against defined service level agreements, ensuring optimal usage and alignment with organizational goals
  • Ensure adherence to established support processes (e.g., incident management, change management) to maintain operational efficiency and system reliability.
  • Create thorough documentation and lead knowledge transfer sessions to ensure smooth transitions and team enablement.
  • Develop and maintain tools and software across multiple cloud environments, driving automation and innovation in cloud-based solutions
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior team members, encouraging a collaborative, innovative development team culture

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • A university degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Java and Shell Scripting; designing and developing complex solutions in C++, Python and/or Perl
  • Proficiency in Go Language, NodeJS, and SQL (Oracle & Informix are a plus)
  • Experience with monitoring tools like Dynatrace, DataDog or Icinga
  • Proven expertise in Git and working with CI/CD pipelines to streamline development and deployment processes     
  • Ability to coach junior team members and take on a senior/team architect type of a role
  • Strong experience with Linux, including system-level understanding and configuration
  • Proven ability to adopt and integrate AI tools and industry best practices to accelerate development cycles and improve efficiency
  • Demonstrated capacity to deliver high-quality results while working under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience participating in an on-call rotation to support production systems and resolve critical issues as they arise
