Jill’s House is seeking a detail-oriented, trustworthy, and highly organized Accounts Payable & Payroll Specialist to support the Finance Department through accurate payroll processing, accounts payable management, retirement plan administration, and general accounting support. This role will help support employees, vendors, and ministry operations through reliable financial processes, timely communication, and excellent stewardship of organizational resources.

This role is a meaningful opportunity for someone with successful experience in payroll, accounting, or bookkeeping who values accuracy, confidentiality, and faithful stewardship, and would be excited to use their skills in support of a faith-based organization.

What you get to do:

In this role, you will help keep essential Finance processes running smoothly by supporting:

  • Payroll Processing: You will support semi-monthly payroll, maintain payroll-related timekeeping and accrual data in the HRIS, review payroll data for accuracy, and ensure records are maintained with confidentiality and care.
  • Accounts Payable: You will review, code, and process vendor invoices, manage the bill payment schedule, reconcile vendor statements, maintain vendor records, and support year-end 1099 preparation.
  • Retirement Plan Administration: You will process retirement plan contributions and distributions, assist with retirement account loan documentation, coordinate with plan administrators, and communicate relevant benefits updates to employees.
  • QuickBooks and General Accounting: You will enter and categorize expenses, invoices, and payments in QuickBooks, perform monthly bank reconciliations, assist with month-end and year-end close processes, and maintain organized, audit-ready financial records.

We are looking for someone who brings accuracy, integrity, and care to their work. The ideal candidate will be dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently while handling confidential information with discretion. This person will communicate with professionalism and enjoy working in partnership with other departments, employees, vendors, and external partners.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • At least two years of experience in payroll processing, accounts payable, bookkeeping, or a related finance role
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and ADP Workforce Now (or comparable payroll software)
  • Preferred experience with retirement plan administration, including 403(b) plans or similar retirement plans
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • The ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities independently
  • A high level of discretion and professionalism when handling confidential information
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • A collaborative, service-oriented approach when working with employees, vendors, and internal teams
  • A commitment to affirming the McLean Bible Church Vision and Values and Standards of Christian Conduct

Work Location: This role is primarily remote, with required occasional in-office work at the Tysons location to support payroll files, year-end tax documents, etc. Candidates should be able to report to our office in Tysons VA as needed.
