This role typically includes submitting claims to insurance companies, following up on unpaid claims, posting payments, and ensuring accurate patient invoicing. It requires knowledge of medical billing codes, insurance procedures, and optometry-specific terminology. Many part time optometry billers work remotely or in-office, usually for a set number of hours per week depending on the size of the practice.
