Airport Operations an integral part to the success of the airport system, as a key role in facilitating safe and efficient and predictable movement of aircraft and all customers that those aircraft serve. Roles in Airport Operations are exciting and dynamic and require a strong team approach – which is key to everything we do.

Position overview

Are you a data-driven, team player? As the Operations Analyst – Flow, you will be responsible for tracking and reporting on YVR’s real-time operational performance and will use this data to influence our operational performance to both our internal and external stakeholders.  

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining a real-time operational metric database by reporting on all key flow areas across groundside, terminal, baggage and airside
  • Establishing a means to track real-time operational performance across all areas, and providing quantitative and qualitative reporting for day-of operations and forecasting
  • Identifying obstacles and anomalies through data analysis to help justify initiating projects aimed at improving operational efficiency
  • Managing all aspects of projects including creating documents and change management plans for stakeholders

Key qualifications include:

  • At least two years of relevant experience in an operational environment, ideally in a major international airport, supplemented by at least two years of post-secondary training (Aviation Management, Business, Operations and/or Logistics preferred); or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Proficiency with MS Office and advanced skills in data analytics; preference for those with experience with major BI tools such as MS Fabric, PowerBI, Qlik and/or Databrick 
  • Proven ability to quickly interpret abstract data from independent sources and present to a variety of stakeholders
  • Strong technical writing skills with excellent communication skills and a demonstrated ability to present to large audiences
  • Exceptional critical thinking and decision-making skills, with a proven ability to work with minimal supervision

Shift schedule with alternating day and night shifts will be required as this role supports the operation on a 24-hour basis, with a requirement to support winter operations for 24/7 operations. As an employee on a shifted work schedule, you may be eligible for shift and weekend premiums.

The results of this posting will apply to any subsequent part-time Operations Analyst – Flow positions that may become vacant as a result of filling the full-time position referenced in this posting (Ref #26-106). If no subsequent vacancies immediately arise from this posting within the Operations Analyst – Flow classification, future vacancies will be posted in accordance with standard procedures.

This position is open to Vancouver Airport Authority employees and external applications. Previous job performance will be taken into consideration for all internal candidates that apply for this position.
