Schedule:
Part-time (10 hours a week)
The Offshore/Decommission Estimator is a technical estimating opportunity focused on the development, management and execution of cost estimating activities across project phases including Pre-FEED and FEED. This position is suited to an experienced professional with broad estimating knowledge across multiple disciplines, strong understanding of home office services and field construction costs, and the ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications. The Offshore/Decommission Estimator will play a key role in supporting estimate quality, project decision-making and cost visibility on large-scale projects. This Offshore/Decommission Estimator opportunity offers the chance to contribute technical expertise within a multi-disciplinary project environment.
Role Context
This role sits within the engineering, procurement and construction management sector, supporting upstream and large-scale project environments. The position is focused on projects progressing through Pre-FEED and FEED phases and involves working across multi-disciplinary teams. The company operates in specialist areas including refining, sulphur technology, arctic development, subsea systems, deepwater facilities, nuclear power and renewable energy.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop, manage and execute cost estimates in line with approved procedures across project phases including Pre-FEED and FEED.
  • Prepare estimate plans, define estimating methodology and apply appropriate cost estimating principles.
  • Work with project teams to establish a suitable Work Breakdown Structure in line with project and customer requirements.
  • Review design scope criteria and quantities for completeness and coordinate the development of additional estimating bases where information is incomplete.
  • Support the collection, verification and integration of work scope data into the overall cost estimate.
  • Compare scope, quantities and cost data across projects and carry out benchmark estimates using historical outcomes, vendor pricing, high-level norms and industry standards.
  • Identify areas of risk within estimates, evaluate contingency levels and, where required, perform risk analysis to support estimate accuracy.
  • Prepare and present estimating information to management or customers, including Basis of Cost Estimate reporting and cost trend estimates.
Requirements:
  • Thorough technical and practical estimating skills with the ability to deliver accurate and timely work.
  • Strong knowledge of multiple disciplines and solid understanding of home office services and field construction costs.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of the fundamental requirements of the discipline and the basic requirements of other disciplines.
  • Knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong experience using relevant software such as MS Office Suite and discipline-specific tools.
  • Technical, practical and leadership experience in the relevant discipline, including project engineering and management with specialised estimating expertise.
  • Understanding of project planning and scheduling, with experience working in multi-disciplinary teams on large-scale projects.
About the Company
