Job description

Description This position utilizes lifeguard training skills to ensure the safety of patrons at our aquatic facilities by preventing and responding to emergencies. Must be available to work weekday mornings and participate in regular in-service trainings. We're looking for committed, reliable individuals to join our energetic team of lifeguards.

Hours: Mandatory staff trainings are held on the second Saturday of each month. If you would like to be considered for this position you must be available for training dates. The Fall - Spring pool schedule will run September 8 through June 11.

Hours of work are Monday - Thursday 6:45 am - 10:00 am, 11:45 am - 2:00 pm, and 7:15 pm - 8:45 pm. Staff will not be scheduled to work all shifts, with an emphasis on the morning and noontime lap swimming Hourly wage: LIFEGUARD (CSS II) $17.83 - $18.27 per hour Status: Temporary Part-Time, No benefits. Examples of Duties Responsibilities (includes but is not limited to): Maintain constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; act immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency Enforce all pool rules, policies, and regulations Educate patrons and inform them of the purpose and need for rules and regulations Provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical service Respond quickly to all emergency situations in the water or surrounding areas Take an active role in maintaining a safe environment and take steps to prevent accidents by eliminating potentially hazardous conditions Present professional appearance and attitude at all times and maintain a high standard of customer service Perform various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility Complete incident & accident reports Perform other duties as assigned Typical Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Must be 15 years of age or older Must be available to work during morning and noon hours Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations Skill in the application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques Ability to pass a pre-employment physical skill evaluation Must possess the following American Red Cross certifications at the time of employment: Lifeguard Training/First Aid/CPR/AED First Aid for Public Safety Personnel (Title-22) Please Note: Certifications must be submitted if an interview is offered Supplemental Information Physical/Sensory Requirements: This is an active position requiring the ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, walk frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 lbs.; occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 100 lbs.; perform simple and power grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation; verbal and hearing skills to effectively communicate with children and other staff; visual acuity to oversee projects, and make observations. Work is done both indoors and out, with exposure to heat, often over 100 degrees, sun, noise, dust, and pollens. Potential for exposure to bloodborne pathogens when rendering first aid. Slip hazards when working near water.

Must be able to complete additional trainings, including but not limited to: Concussion Training, Bloodborne Pathogens, Mandated Reporter, Sudden Cardiac Arrest, Heat Illness, Covid Safety, Prevention of Harassment and Discrimination.
