MICU Overview
The Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) at The George Washington University Hospital provides expert care for patients with complex, acute, and life-threatening medical conditions. Our team treats a wide range of diagnoses including sepsis, respiratory failure, renal failure, multi-organ dysfunction, and complex infectious diseases. The MICU is a dynamic environment where nurses gain expertise in ventilator management, advanced pharmacologic therapies, and multidisciplinary critical care collaboration.
- Medical ICU (MICU) – Complex medical critical care patients
- Surgical ICU (SICU) – Post-operative and surgical specialties
- Trauma ICU (TICU) – High-acuity trauma patients
- Neuro ICU – Neurological and neurosurgical care
