Are you a current LPN or RN and want a unique, fun, and team-oriented environment where you can put your skills to use in a new and interesting way? Easterseals is looking for a Registered Nurse or LPN for our weekend Respite Camp. Come join us in supporting our Respite Direct Support Professionals in providing excellent care to our clients as they enjoy a weekend full of activities! Respite Camp occurs twice a month, year-round, and begins Friday evenings until Sunday evenings.
Principle Accountabilities
  • Provide First Aid and Med Management for campers.
  • Establish and follow appropriate medical routines including record keeping, disposal of medical waste, managing and safeguarding medications, utilize approved standing orders, setup and administer prescribed medications.
  • Participate in and lead specific areas of team member orientation pertaining to camp and respite health and safety, universal precautions, etc.
  • Monitor health of all campers
  • Assess and treat team member health and wellness needs as presented
  • Maintain accident/incident reports, daily health log and individual health histories.
  • Prepare an evaluation including inventories, program evaluations and make recommendations for the following season.
  • Act as primary contact person for health related questions while on shift.
  • Submit overall program evaluation as requested.
  • Maintain active communication with onsite supervisors and guardians to ensure client's health and safety needs are met first and foremost.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • Registered Nurse with current and active license in the State of Iowa.
  • Certification in CPR (Adult and Child), First Aid and Mandatory Reporting.
  • Ability to demonstrate behavior consistent with positive behavior support philosophy
  • Desire to work with persons who have disabilities.
  • Ability to work one weekend per month for the respite weekend program and summer programming.
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to an activity; to model and enforces appropriate safety and emergency procedures.
