Job Summary: The Unit Clerk performs clerical duties associated with the general operation of the Unit.
Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities:
  1. Performs clerical and secretarial activities.
  2. Functions as a unit receptionist.
  3. Maintains patient records.
  4. Runs errands, as requested and needed.
  5. Assists with patient dismissals.
  6. Enters charges into information systems accurately.
  7. Maintains neat and orderly work environment.
  8. Communicates with patients/families using age appropriate language.
  9. Interprets and enters orders into computer system in accurate, timely manner.
  10. Stocks assigned work area with papers and clerical supplies or needed for patient care activities.
  11. Collects and enters complete and accurate data/patient demographic into the information system.
  12. Performs downtime procedures correctly.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
  • If hired or transferred into ED or women's services, must have current JPS recognized CPR certification within 30 days and must be maintained throughout employment.

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Some work experience (less than 6 months).
