Job Description
Job Description:
The Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center in Enid, Oklahoma is seeking a part-time museum assistant to welcome visitors from all over the country. This position is responsible for assisting with museum admission and museum store sales while offering excellent customer service and museum direction. A museum assistant is the welcoming face of the museum and helps create an enjoyable experience for guests. This position is under the supervision of the museum director and operations manager.
Basic Functions:
The specific tasks within this job will vary, but may include the following:
  • Greet all visitors with exceptional customer service.
  • Take admissions and museum store sales.
  • Gives visitors directions and provides information about the museum, its contents, special interest areas, and events.
  • Assists in maintaining the museum store - cleans and restocks as needed.
  • Takes phone calls and messages - forwards calls to appropriate staff members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Knowledge, skills and abilities required for this position include knowledge of the preparation of informational material; of Oklahoma history; visitor services functions; handling of money; basic Point of Sales software. Ability is required to establish and maintain working relationships with others and to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Some training is available.
Education:
Minimum education and experience requirements for this position consist of a high school diploma or GED, 1 year of customer service, 1 year of retail operations and money handling, familiarity with point-of-sales software.
Salary:
The salary for this position is $13.14/hr. The Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center is a part of the Oklahoma Historical Society and operates through a partnership with the Cherokees Strip Regional Heritage Center, Inc. Hours of operation are Tuesday - Saturday, 10:00am to 5:00pm.
