Guest Services Officer - Temporary Project (Green Roof)
Kansas City, MO
Hourly Rate: $15.45/hour
Schedule:
This is a part-time, permanent position averaging approximately 10-15 hours per week.
This position has no set schedule, and flexibility is essential. Evening and weekend availability is required to support museum events and programs.

As the Guest Services Officer - Temporary Project (Green Roof), you will play a key role in supporting one of the museum's major campus improvement projects. You'll provide dedicated oversight of vendors and contractors, helping ensure construction activities are conducted safely while protecting museum property, staff, and visitors. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys customer service, security, and working collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
What You'll Do
As a Guest Services Officer assigned to the Green Roof Project, you will support construction operations through contractor oversight, access control, and safety monitoring.
Responsibilities include:
Contractor Escort & Access Control
Escort contractors and vendors to designated work areas, verify credentials, manage sign-in/sign-out procedures, and ensure access is limited to authorized areas.
Construction Site Monitoring
Maintain a visible presence within or near project work zones to observe contractor activity and ensure compliance with museum policies and approved work parameters.
Safety & Security Awareness
Identify and report safety hazards, suspicious activity, policy violations, or property concerns while supporting emergency response procedures as needed.
Communication & Coordination
Serve as a liaison between contractors and museum staff, coordinating with Security, Facilities, and Project Management to support daily operations.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate logs of contractor activity, access records, and incident reports in accordance with departmental procedures.
Professional Conduct
Represent the museum with professionalism while consistently enforcing safety protocols and access requirements.
What We're Looking For
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Customer service, hospitality, or other public-facing experience preferred
  • Ability to obtain a Kansas City, Missouri Private Officer Licensing Unit Class A Patrol Officer Security License, if required
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong situational awareness and attention to detail
  • Ability to consistently follow and enforce security procedures

Compensation & Benefits
Hourly Rate: $15.45
This is a temporary full-time, hourly, benefits-eligible position.
