Xavier University is seeking qualified candidates to join our pool of potential adjunct faculty for the 2026-2027 academic year. This posting is intended to collect applications for part-time, non-tenure-track position for an Adjunct Instructor in the Department of Music & Theatre.

Candidates must be dedicated to undergraduate teaching and demonstrate excellence in their field. The successful candidate(s) will contribute to our commitment to excellence in teaching and student engagement.

Applications will be accepted on a continuous basis, and candidates may be contacted as teaching needs arise. Adjunct faculty contracts are issued on a semester-by-semester basis, depending on departmental needs and student enrollment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Candidates may qualify with a master's degree in a related field accompanied by significant professional experience or a relevant graduate degree.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach at the college level.
  • Ability and experience to teach one or more of the following courses in the department:

o Music in Film (MUSC 106)

o Private Lesson: Voice (MUSC 282)

o Private Lesson: Electric Guitar (MUSC 283)

o Private Lesson: Drum Set (MUSC 298)

o Private Lesson: Jazz Piano (MUSC 298)

o Voice and Movement for the Actor (THTR 121)

o Voice for Theatre Majors (THTR 197)

o Lighting Design (THTR 331)

o Jazz Dance I (DANC 155)

o Trumpet (MUSC 294)

Duties include:

  • Teach assigned course(s).
  • Effective planning and preparation of lectures, discussions, and activities to support student success.
  • Use Xavier's campus-wide academic program, Canvas, to provide course information and maintain an electronic record of student's progress.
  • Working cooperatively with members of the department.
