COOK JOB DESCRIPTION

Reports to: Food and Beverage Manager | FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Full-Time or Part-Time



POSITION OVERVIEW

The cook will prepare food and ingredients, process guest orders, produce orders in a timely fashion, keep the workspace clean throughout the day, follow recipes consistently, and communicate with the Guest Attendants to meet guest expectations. They are responsible for delivering safe and fresh food cooked to the guest's specifications.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare ingredients
  • Ensure ingredients and final products are fresh
  • Interact with waitstaff
  • Follow recipes, including measuring, weighing, and mixing ingredients
  • Assess customers, needs, and preferences and make recommendations
  • Bake, grill, steam, boil, and fry meats, poultry, fish, vegetables, and other foods
  • Present garnish and arrange final dishes
  • Handle and Store ingredients and food
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, including utensils, equipment, and dishes
  • Maintain food safety and sanitation standards
  • Execute opening and closing procedures
  • Set up workstations with the required ingredients and equipment
  • Accommodate special requests
  • Operate kitchen equipment
  • Assist with dishwashing
  • Adheres to Alpen Bluffs policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven experience as a cook
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Knowledge of safety procedures, including safe temperatures at which ingredients must be kept and prepared to prevent food-borne illness
  • Calm demeanor to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Interpersonal skills to work with a variety of people and fellow team members
  • Accountability for prepared dishes to meet the expectations of management and guests
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to handle tools
  • Knife skills and technique, including chopping, slicing, and dicing
  • Comprehension and organizational skills to follow direct orders and recipes
