UFA, Inc., is looking for a part-time Technical Writer for the 2026 months of July through December to aid and provide necessary leave coverage for our Technical Documentation team. The role would consist of a 6-month term beginning with a 2- to 3-month training period. The entering technical writer would work closely with the managing technical writer and the rest of the team to help develop and maintain technical documentation related to UFA product enhancements and releases. Document types include but are not limited to user manuals, configuration manuals, reference manuals, installation manuals, phraseology guides, and ICDs.
Hire Qualifications:
Our ideal candidate would be a motivated technical writer with strong attention to detail. They must be organized, able to manage a heavy workload and strict deadlines with minimal supervision, and have excellent communication skills. Someone with previous experience in Technical Writing/Editing is preferred.
Role Responsibilities:
· Assist in documentation updates and/or creation that are submitted for editing and publication during the term of employment to support upcoming releases.
· Work closely with document originators and Documentation Team members to ensure updates are completed on time and to the highest level of accuracy possible.
· Perform documentation reviews and edits to ensure consistency and accuracy across the entire document, both in content and formatting.
· Follow the established documentation template(s) and UFA style guidelines to maintain consistency across the documentation repository.
· Assist in continuing to move any backlog projects forward during the term of employment as time permits (including multiple ongoing conversion projects and potential CCMS implementation)
Preferred Qualifications:
· Previous Technical Writing/Editing experience
· Professional experience using any/all of the following: Microsoft Word, Jira, OneDrive/SharePoint, Confluence, and/or Git
· Experience using a CCMS for technical documentation
· Background or degree in English, writing, or a related field
· Strong command of the English language
· Meticulous attention to detail
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
