Part-time hourly employees support the primary instructional team in a variety of ways. Part-time faculty work most often as support faculty members during lab sessions in the skills lab for the EMT or paramedic courses. When the employee is in a support role they are expected to come to the class setting ready to begin instruction and possess mastery of the content they are expected to support. Part-time hourly employees may be offered the opportunity to teach primary education content. Part-time hourly employees may be offered the opportunity to function as a lead instructor as their experience, education, and performance demonstrates the competencies required in this role. Part-time hourly employees may be awarded an adjunct faculty contract to work a consistent amount of time in a specific course.

Essential Role Responsibilities
Knowledge Requirement
Mastery of EMT and paramedic content is required. Strong written and verbal communication skills are mandatory. Outstanding interpersonal skills required, including the ability to interact with a diverse range of students (including those with special needs), faculty and staff required. Ability to work as part of a team required. Knowledge of a variety of teaching delivery methods necessary. Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality. Regular attendance is a requirement of this position.

Licensing or Certification Requirements
Current Paramedic Certification- Licensure
Maryland Paramedic or National Registry Paramedic
Maryland Instructor Certification Review Board (MICRB) Level II Instructor, preferred
National Certified EMS Educator (NCEE), preferred
Associates degree mandatory, Baccalaureate preferred
Standard EMS equipment and supplies, including manekins and instructional models. Microcomputers/laptops; projection equipment; printers; copiers; adaptive technology for students with disabilities; general office equipment of all kinds.
Supervision Reports directly to the Primary Instructor of the course and the EMS Program Director, AD Health and Sciences Division

Minimum Education Required Experience Required Minimum and Preferred Qualifications Physical Demand Summary WORKING CONDITIONS
Responsibilities involve deadlines, and time driven conditions (i.e., high volume of work and student, faculty and staff contacts) and considerable multi-tasking. Must be able to work overtime and outside of normal daytime working hours when necessary to complete assignments. Must be able to lift 125 equally distributed pounds (250 pounds with a partner) , a height of 33 inches, and a distance of 10 feet
