What are some common challenges faced by part time models, and how can they be addressed?

Part-time models often face challenges such as inconsistent work schedules, last-minute bookings, and balancing modeling with other commitments like school or another job. It’s important to maintain flexibility and good communication with agencies or clients to manage expectations. Staying organized, keeping an updated portfolio, and networking within the industry can help secure more consistent opportunities. Additionally, investing time in self-care and practicing poses can improve confidence and performance at castings and shoots.

To thrive as a Part Time Model, you generally need a professional portfolio, strong posing ability, and an understanding of the modeling industry’s requirements. Familiarity with booking platforms, digital submission tools, and sometimes basic photo editing software is helpful. Reliability, adaptability, and excellent communication skills help models build strong client relationships and succeed in diverse assignments. These skills and qualities ensure models can represent brands effectively, maintain professionalism, and secure repeat work in a competitive field.

What does a part time model do?

As a part-time model, your job is to participate in photo shoots and other types of modeling sessions as requested by your employer. While this may include walking down a runway or taking part in a modeling job for a print magazine, part-time models also work in art classes, motion capture studios, and similar areas that need extra bodies on hand. Many part-time models also manage a portfolio of work. Despite the part-time nature of this job, you may be asked to adjust your schedule on short notice to meet the needs of clients. Many part-time models specialize in specific areas, such as fitness modeling or body part modeling.

How much does a part time model get paid?

Part-time models typically earn between $15 and $50 per hour, depending on factors such as experience, location, and the type of modeling work. Rates can vary widely for different modeling niches like fashion, commercial, or promotional work, and some models may also receive paid assignments or commissions.

Tides Mental Health

Chicago, IL • On-site

Job description

About Tides Mental Health (TidesMentalHealth.com):

Founded in 2023, Tides Mental Health is a growing outpatient psychiatric and behavioral health practice serving individuals, couples, and families across the Chicago area. Our mission is to be a safe harbor for healing and growth—transforming mental health care through compassion, collaboration, accessibility, and creativity. We pair psychiatric and therapy services under one roof to deliver truly integrated, client-centered care.

This is an early-stage, founder-led practice. The clinician who joins us now will help shape our clinical culture, care model, and long-term direction.

The Role:

We’re looking for a licensed, experienced psychiatric PA-C who wants to practice thoughtful psychiatry without the volume pressure of larger systems. You’ll carry a manageable caseload, collaborate closely with our therapy team, and help build the integrated care model that sets Tides apart. Our Medical Director—a psychiatrist licensed in Illinois—serves as your collaborating physician, providing supervision and clinical support.

Our clients are primarily adults experiencing anxiety, depression and mood concerns, and ADHD. Candidates should bring the requisite clinical experience to both effectively care for and collaborate with our Medical Director / therapy team on higher-acuity patients. Tides operates an integrated care model: clients come to us for medication management, psychiatric assessments, and education about their medications, coordinated alongside therapy.

The role is flexible and ideal whether you’re supplementing an existing practice or looking to grow with a mission-driven team.

What You'll Do:

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and provide ongoing medication management for Tides clients

  • Reliably conduct integrated intake evaluations as scheduled

  • Partner with our therapists to coordinate care and keep treatment aligned across disciplines

  • Educate clients on diagnosis, treatment options, and the integrated care model during intake and follow-up

  • Maintain timely, accurate documentation in our EHR

  • Help refine clinical workflows and our integrated care framework as we grow

What You Bring:

  • Active Illinois PA license in good standing, with current NCCPA certification (PA-C)

  • Willingness to practice under a written collaborative agreement with our Medical Director

  • Current, unrestricted DEA registration and NPI

  • At least 2–3 years of experience practicing as a PA, with meaningful psychiatric or mental health experience

  • Sound clinical judgment and comfort working autonomously within a collaborative team

  • Individual malpractice/liability coverage

  • Enthusiasm for building something in an entrepreneurial, early-stage environment

Details:

  • Hours: Flexible scheduling with both part-time and full-time arrangements considered; final schedule mutually agreed based on your availability and practice needs

  • Location: In-person at our Chicago office with remote flexibility

  • Compensation: Competitive revenue-share model based on a percentage of net collections, rewarding productivity and growth. Specifics discussed during the interview process.

  • Classification: 1099 independent contractor

Apply:

Tides Mental Health is an equal opportunity practice committed to an inclusive workplace, and we welcome applicants of all backgrounds and experiences. If you’re ready to help shape the future of mental health care, we’d love to hear from you — apply today.
