Children's Ministries Director
Part-Time | Salaried $22,000–$27,000
15–25 hours per week

First Church in North Platte is seeking a passionate, relational leader to guide and grow our Children's Ministry for children from Pre-K through 5th grade. This part-time, salaried role is ideal for someone with a heart for helping children know and follow Jesus while equipping volunteers and families to nurture faith in the next generation.

At First Church, our mission is to "Leave a Spiritual Legacy for the Next Generation of Christ Followers." With an average weekend worship attendance of 250 in person and 125 online, three unique worship services, and a growing outreach beyond our community, we strive to meet people wherever they are spiritually and help them develop a relationship with Jesus Christ.


What You'll Do

As Children's Ministries Director, you'll lead and support a team of volunteers while creating meaningful opportunities for children and families to grow in their faith. Your responsibilities will include:

• Volunteer Leadership: Recruit, train, equip, and encourage volunteers who are passionate about helping children become disciples of Jesus Christ.

• Ministry Programming: Develop, organize, and oversee Children's Ministry programs for Pre-K through 5th grade, including weekly Wednesday evening ministries and weekend worship involvement.

• Curriculum & Discipleship: Research, recommend, and implement Bible-based curriculum that fosters spiritual growth and age-appropriate learning experiences.

• Family & Community Engagement: Create opportunities through small groups, large group gatherings, service projects, and family events that strengthen relationships and encourage faith formation.

• Special Events: Plan, promote, recruit volunteers, and help coordinate major ministry events such as Vacation Bible School and Trunk or Treat, ensuring they are safe, engaging, and welcoming to our community.

• Worship & Staff Collaboration: Partner with church staff and ministry leaders to advocate for children and families, assist in worship through Children's Time and other elements as needed, and help promote ministry events throughout the church.

• Safety & Administration: Maintain volunteer records and ensure all ministry volunteers have a current Safe Gatherings Certificate on file.

This position is central to helping First Church fulfill its mission by building a healthy, relational, and outward-focused ministry where children and families encounter the love of Jesus and grow as disciples.


What We're Looking For

• A clear calling to Children's Ministry and an ability to articulate a personal relationship with Jesus Christ

• Understanding of children's ministry principles, culture, trends, and effective programming

• Strong leadership, organizational, and administrative skills

• Ability to recruit, develop, and encourage volunteer leaders in a team environment

• Comfort communicating and teaching in small, medium, and large group settings with children, parents, volunteers, and the congregation

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions while managing multiple responsibilities effectively

• A collaborative spirit and desire to work alongside staff, volunteers, and families to accomplish ministry goals

• Weekly participation Wednesday night ministry and Sunday morning worship

• Willingness to become an active member of First Church

Preferred: Graduation from an accredited college or university and previous experience in children's ministry leadership.
