What is a part time MIDI?

Part-time MIDI jobs involve working with Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI) technology on a part-time basis. These roles may include composing, arranging, editing, or producing digital music using MIDI software and hardware. Part-time MIDI jobs are common in music production, education, and live performance settings, offering flexible hours for those skilled in digital music creation. Typical duties can include sequencing tracks, programming synthesizers, and collaborating with other musicians or producers. These jobs are ideal for individuals who want to apply their music technology skills without the commitment of full-time employment.

What are the typical expectations and challenges for a part time MIDI programmer in a collaborative music production environment?

As a part-time MIDI programmer, you’ll often work with composers, producers, and sound engineers to create, edit, and arrange MIDI tracks for various musical projects. A key challenge is managing tight deadlines and adapting to different musical styles or project requirements quickly. You’ll also need to ensure your MIDI programming integrates seamlessly with live recordings and software instruments, which requires strong attention to detail and effective communication with the team. Flexibility and a willingness to receive feedback are important for success in this dynamic, creative environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time MIDI specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time MIDI Specialist, you need a strong understanding of music theory, MIDI protocols, and digital audio workstation (DAW) software, typically supported by relevant coursework or experience. Familiarity with industry-standard DAWs such as Ableton Live, Logic Pro, or Pro Tools, as well as proficiency with MIDI controllers and virtual instruments, is essential. Creativity, attention to detail, and effective communication are important soft skills for collaborating with musicians and producers. These skills ensure efficient music production workflows, high-quality sound creation, and successful project outcomes in studio or live settings.

Job description

Staff Software Engineer, Full Stack (Full-time)

Location: Hybrid - San Francisco Bay Area (Palo Alto or San Francisco office, Monday/Thursday in-office)
Salary Range: $210,000 - $250,000 + equity + benefits
Job Type: Full-time, W2

About Midi Health

Midi Health is the largest virtual care clinic for women in midlife navigating perimenopause, menopause, and other hormonal transitions. We combine expert clinicians, evidence-based protocols, and a modern technology platform to deliver care that has historically been underserved by the healthcare system. We're a fast-growing, mission-driven company building the infrastructure and products that define this new category of care.

How We Work

  • Hybrid by design. 2 days/week in-office (Monday and Thursday) in Palo Alto or San Francisco, 3 days remote. We believe high-trust teams are built in person and scaled remotely.
  • AI-native engineering. We expect every engineer to be fluent with modern AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, and similar) and to actively push the frontier of how we build software.
  • Low-ego, high-curiosity. We approach disagreement with humility and technical rigor, not politics. We invest in each other's growth.
  • Outcome-oriented. We move fast, own our work end-to-end, and balance speed with the durability that healthcare demands.

The difference you will make

We are looking for a Staff Fullstack Engineer to serve as a technical pillar within our Engineering Org. As we scale, you will be a hands-on technical driver, distilling complex understanding from across Midi into cohesive technical roadmaps and products that help us revolutionize women's healthcare.

What you will do

  • Analyze complex technical problems and lead architectural reviews across multiple teams to prevent technical debt, establish cross-service patterns, and ensure the long-term sustainability of Midi's healthcare ecosystem.
  • Act as a 'part-time product manager for technology,' advocating for critical infrastructure upgrades that enable future business velocity.
  • Craft exceptional, thoughtful, scalable and flexible products and code, balancing for speed of execution and scalability
  • Actively shape engineering culture by establishing best practices for automated testing, CI/CD, and high-quality code across the entire stack.
  • Analyze high-level technical and business problems and architect elegant, flexible solutions that account for long-term scalability and business growth.
  • Partner with Executive Leadership, Product, Marketing, and Clinical Stakeholders to identify unmet customer and operational needs, translating business goals into technical strategies that deliver outcomes for our patients and clinicians
  • Formally and informally mentor senior and junior engineers, fostering a culture of curiosity, humility, and technical excellence.

About You

  • You have 10+ years of experience building and scaling complex engineering solutions, with a proven track record of leading large-scale architectural migrations in a startup environment.
  • You possess proven production experience in Django/DRF and React/Next.js or similar technologies.
  • You are comfortable operating at a high level of abstraction, translating vague product and growth goals into concrete technical roadmaps.
  • You bring a versatile background in building consumer-facing products alongside deep expertise in architecting complex operational and workflow management systems.
  • You are a power-user of agentic coding tools and LLM's (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate development and mentor the team on high-leverage prompting and code-auditing strategies.
  • You help create a respectful, low-ego team environment, approaching discussions with curiosity and humility.

At this time, Midi Health is not able to sponsor or take over sponsorship of any employment visa (including H-1B, TN, or other work authorization). Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future visa sponsorship.
