As a Paramedic, you will provide immediate medical treatment to patients presenting with various critical injuries,illnessesand concerns. In this role, fast thinking and processing are essential, as every second counts in an emergency. Your tireless efforts help improve outcomes and make a lasting difference in the lives of patients, theirfamiliesand your fellow caregivers.

A caregiver in this position will work day, evening, night and weekend shifts following a 24-hours-on, 48-hours-off rotation. Part-time caregivers may work the full 24-hour shift or partial shifts of 7:00am to 3:00pm or 3:00pm to 7:00am.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Provide immediate medical assessment and treatment to injured/ill patients on-site, in the community, and during transport to hospital.
  • Navigate an ambulance to scene of accident in response to emergency calls.
  • Maintain equipment, restocksuppliesand cleanambulancesas necessary.
  • Assessthenature and extent of illness/injury andpatient'shistory from available sources.
  • Determineappropriate independentor collaborativeresponse.
  • Administerappropriate emergencymedical care including life support procedures, decontamination protocols, fluid/drug administration, obtaining EKG readings and vital statisticsmonitoringin accordancewithEMS protocols.
  • Communicate with medical personnel at hospital, report/record observations, and follow directives until report and hand-off at hospital.
  • Complete a USDOT approved Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC) course within six months of hire.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Completion of an accredited EMS-ParamedicTrainingProgram
  • Current licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMTP) in Ohio
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)Healthcare Provider, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certificationsthrough the American Heart Association (AHA)OR the American Red Cross
  • CurrentOhio ValidDriver'sLicense (VDL)
  • Three years of experience as an EMT-P.EMT-P experience may be substituted with at least one (1) year of EMT-P experience required and a combination of equivalent EMT experience. Equivalent EMT experience would be two (2) years for each one (1) year of EMT-P experience required.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Experience in a larger metropolitan area
  • Experience in theEmergencyRoom orCriticalCareTransport

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Frequently lifts and carries items weighing over 75 pounds.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $22.00

Maximum hourly: $32.00
