Job description

Medical Assistant / Clinical Assistant - Part-Time (25 Hours)
Southwoods Health currently has a part-time Medical Assistant position open in Warren, Ohio. The Medical Assistant will work collaboratively with their team, partnering with physicians and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality, comprehensive patient care. This position is responsible for performing a wide range of skilled clinical and administrative duties.
Schedule:
  • 25 Hours Per Week: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.

Essential Duties:
  • Customer Service: Create a welcoming, friendly, and professional environment for patients and visitors through exceptional customer service.
  • Patient Intake: Room patients in a timely manner utilizing two unique patient identifiers.
  • Vitals & Charting: Obtain and record vital signs, chief complaints, current medications, and allergies in patient charts.
  • Specimen Processing: Collect and process various specimens by following proper collection, storage, and recording protocols.
  • Lab Prep: Prepare laboratory specimens in a timely manner for transport, maintaining positive specimen identification throughout processing.
  • Provider Communication: Report and record critical laboratory values, adverse reactions, and pertinent information promptly to physicians and team members.
  • Administrative Support: Perform administrative duties as assigned, including scheduling appointments, answering phones, filing, and maintaining medical records.
  • Patient Advocacy: Recognize and support patient rights and responsibilities in the daily performance of job duties.
  • Compliance: Ensure all processes within the practice maintain strict compliance with regulatory agencies.

Qualifications:
  • Experience: 1+ years of experience directly related to hands-on patient care.
  • Backgrounds Welcomed: Prior experience as an STNA, CNA, Phlebotomist, or Pharmacy Technician is highly desirable.
  • Education: Formal Medical Assistant schooling is a plus, but not required if equivalent clinical experience is met.
  • Core Skills: Exceptional customer service, strong multitasking capabilities, and proficiency utilizing medical record databases.
  • Certification: Current BLS Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
