The Pathway Transportation Driver transports participants in Pathway's Micro Transit System from and to each stop safely, coordinates route, and effectively communicates any delays or issues with passengers and employer.

REPORTS TO: CEO

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drivers will be required to follow the scheduled route in a timely manner
  • Safely pick up and drop off all passengers to their designated stop
  • Must represent Pathway Resource Center, Inc. in a professional manner at all times
  • Must employ defensive driving techniques to operate the transit bus
  • Must be able to obey all state and federal traffic laws, safety procedures, and transit regulations
  • Must enforce COVID-19 protocol to reduce risk of exposure
  • Occasionally will be required to prevent or stop unruly behavior from passengers
  • Will need to effectively communicate with passengers and employers regarding delays or issues along a given route
  • Maintain condition, daily cleanliness, and status of vehicle, to report any required maintenance or damage to employer
    • Start and inspect buses as assigned by Site Manager each Monday
    • Submit inspection sheets to the Site Manager at the end of business on Monday
    • Sanitize and wipe down bused daily
    • Deep clean buses-mopping, wiping, etc 2 times per month at the end of work week
  • Performs other duties as required to support the overall mission and operational needs of the organization.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have a High School Diploma
  • Must Have a Minimum of Two (2) Years For Hire Endorsement
  • Must have a Minimum of Two (2) Years of Experience related to the specified Duties and Responsibilities
  • Must be able to pass a Criminal Background Check
  • Must pass DOT Physical & Drug Screening
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must have a Reliable Vehicle with Current Vehicle Insurance
  • Must possess a valid and current Commercial Driver's License, endorsed for Passenger Vehicles
  • Full-Time: Must be able to work 40 Hours per Week
  • Must work some Weekends (8-10 per year) and Evenings (rotate shifts with other drivers to cover 7am-8pm schedule)
  • Hourly Pay Rate: Negotiable Based on Education & Experience
  • Knowledge of Indianapolis and Far-Eastside area Preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while operating a vehicle.
  • Frequent entering and exiting of the vehicle throughout the shift.
  • Ability to assist passengers with mobility challenges, including operating wheelchair lifts and securing passengers safely.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, including mobility aids, equipment, or supplies as needed.
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, and standing to assist passengers and perform vehicle safety checks.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain, while assisting passengers and maintaining vehicle safety.
  • Ability to safely operate a vehicle for long periods, maintain focus, and respond quickly to changing road conditions.
  • Must meet physical and medical requirements for driving per DOT and company standards.

  • Must ensure implementation of policies and practices
  • Must have knowledge of Indiana Motor Vehicle Code & basic first aid practices

  • Capability to respect others while also maintaining personal boundaries
